Once, when facing mortal peril, Saint Milis bestowed the necklace upon the ‘Dearest One’ as she ventured into the land of the dead. In return, the ‘Dearest One’ left a kiss filled with the wish for her safe return on Saint Milis’ forehead. When Saint Milis found herself in dire straits, the ‘Dearest One’ offered the necklace to the gods. Impressed by the intricacy of the necklace and the love of the ‘Dearest One,’ the god saved Saint Milis. This legend is reenacted in Milis Church weddings, where the husband adorns his wife with this necklace.
