The third son of a mid-ranking noble family in the Asura Kingdom. Graduated with top honors from Asura Magic University, making him a valuable senior mage among the nobility, which led to his appointment as Ariel’s guardian mage.
He believed that with Ariel’s charismatic leadership, initiative, and popular support, they could eradicate the political corruption entrenched in Asura and pave the way for the nation’s development. However, at the time when Derrick was still alive, Ariel had no intention of ascending to the throne and was content with a hedonistic lifestyle.
During a tea time at the “White Lily Garden” with Luke, Ariel, and Derrick, he risked his life to protect Ariel from an attack by the “Terminate-Boar,” a monster that had teleported during the Fittoa Region Teleport Incident, thus proving his loyalty but he was dead by monster’s attack.
Derrick deeply respected Ariel and frequently advised that she was the most suitable candidate for the next queen. When monsters teleported into the Asura Royal Palace due to the Fittoa Region Teleport Incident, Derrick shielded Ariel and sustained severe injuries. Even in his dying moments, he advised Ariel to succeed to the throne and then passed away. This event significantly influenced Ariel’s mindset, leading her to determine to become queen in honor of Derrick’s legacy.
According to Orsted, if Derrick had survived, his intelligence and determination would have persuaded Perugius to support Ariel. He would have become Ariel’s trusted advisor and eventually the prime minister.
Coming from a provincial background, Derrick did not share the eccentric fetishes often associated with central nobility and held conventional values. As a result, he frequently cautioned Ariel and Luke about their conversations.
